Families across Ireland are looking for someone like you
Nuala helps families arrange practical help for an older relative. Sometimes that’s a taxi or a plumber. Sometimes it’s a hairdresser who’ll come to the house, or someone handy who’ll change the batteries in a remote.
Repairs, cleaning, gardening, tech help, transport, errands — if you offer a service that makes life easier for an older person, we’d like to hear from you.
Offering your services
Tell us about yourself
Just fill in the form below. If you’re just getting started, we can help — often you’ll just need to get Public Liability insurance.
We get in touch
We gather information for families on what you can offer and answer your questions.
We do some checks
Families need to know who’s coming through their door. We’ll guide you through it and tell you what we need.
You join the circle
We introduce you to families.
If you’re charging, then they pay us and we pay you, less credit card charges, if applicable. Our bill goes to the family for organising things.
Frequently asked questions
Can I just volunteer, work for free?
If you choose not to charge, then we won’t either.
If you’re offering companionship, then we recommend volunteering instead for Alone.
How much do you charge?
Our only charge is to the family for organising things. We pass on your bill in full. Card processing costs around 1.5% — you can absorb it or we’ll add it to the family’s bill, your choice.
Who is in demand?
A gardener, cleaner, technology assistant or handyman in particular.
Families often just want someone nearby who can just drop in and empty the dishwasher. It varies!
What checks do you need to do?
If you’re already trading, then we validate your business credentials and insurance. If you’re Garda vetted too, then we’ll let families know.
How difficult is it to get started?
You’ll typically tell Revenue that you’re self-employed. Depending on what you’re offering, you may want Public Liability insurance which starts at €150/year. If you’re working exclusively with older people, then you’ll also need Garda vetting. We can help with that.
What information will I have before arriving?
You’ll get background information from the family, details on what they want and a contact number in case there’s a concern.
Will I have to fill in reports?
Apart from details on the work done, families like to hear how their parent is doing.
Can I choose my own working hours?
Yes, there’s no obligation to accept work. If you do accept a job, we just ask that you honour that commitment to the family.
